UPDATE:

Japanese publication Weekly Jump Magazine has confirmed that Square is indeed working Blood of Bahamut. However, the title appears to be a Nintendo DS exclusive, and will not be appearing on a Sony platform.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE:

Square Enix has quietly launched a countdown page for what is believed to be an all-new RPG title named Blood of Bahamut.

Details are incredibly thin at present, though according to the website, all is planned to be revealed in the next five days. Screenshots currently doing the rounds on the net suggest a handheld release, though it has yet to be confirmed whether they're even from the same game or not.

In the meantime, be sure to take a gander at the countdown page and feel free to speculate to your hearts content in the comments section below. As always, stay tuned for further information as we get it.

If this is a PSP game that would freaking rock! and yeah I agree that it's got a great big SoTC vibe going in that artwork!

AND STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT SQUARE GOING MULTIPLATFORM! Just because you're dissapointed that you didnt foresee them going multiplat like MOST EVERY OTHER REASONABLE PERSON ON THE PLANET, dosent mean they're some sort of traitors! They're a third party company that needs to make money! Get your heads out of your cracks already.

     @ Alpha 2

Why don't you chill out, everybody DOESN'T have to agree with Square being multi and don't have to agree with YOU about it. I think Sony fans have a REASONABLE complaint about FFXIII being multi platform since Star Ocean, Infinite Undiscovery The Last Remnant (timed 360 exclusive), are all going ONLY for 360. You call that reasonable? Yeah, that's what I thought. It seems to me the only person with their "head in their crack" is you! They are putting JRPGs on a console that won't sell as many as the PS3 would (PS3 = Japanese console, hence, MORE sales and the fan base) just look at Enchanted Arms. Yup that's right, it sold better on PS3. The JRPG fan base came from Nintendo and Sony, so why the heck should either fan base be "O.K." with the only system, that has not proven to be a MAJOR JRPG console, receive mediocre JRPGs (Infinite Undiscovery had horrible sales) and yet Square keeps putting them on 360 "EXCLUSIVELY". You need to cool it because people with different opinions from you are not wrong in their feelings like your not wrong about yours. That's why they call it "OPINIONS", and you sir don't have talk crap to people for their opinions, get over yourself!

    @ Versus

Man y dont you shut up. Dont go talking about business running. Cuz on the business plan. Having star ocean xBox 360 exclusive IS NOT a good move. It would have sold way more on PS3 that people bought thinking about rpgs.

Its just all a microcrap BUYOUT. They gave loads of money for rpgs and exclusivity because they want to do well in japan. And so now the decision is up to people. Want to support SE sellouts or not anymore. They dug their own grave with a good portions of the people who bought a ps3 to play their games thats all. Like who would have thought of buying a 360 for rpgs O_O but now that we bought our ps3 AND after saying crap like FF will never go on 360.... BAM they poop on us and make their RPGS multiplatform OR 360 exclusive... wth. I agree that multiplatform is good for business but not for the quality of the game. And the only Exclusives they do are 360 now... sooo mmmmm die square die? Neway every1 has his opinion but personally i won`t be buying from them anymore  :D

DS exclusive. Wow... Who seen that comin?

It'll be parp. Don't sweat it. Personally, I think after Final Fantasy 10, Square made things go in the wrong direction. FF12 was fun for a bit, but waaaaaaay too tedious. Too many random encounters in FF10 were more fun than the hourly run across maps and plains on FF12..

neo_aeon666... i just searched both psu and n4g on star ocean last hope stories.. not one confirm its 360 only. psu had one article that said there was eveidence that its 360 only. but its not proof.   this game will come to the ps3, even if its 6 months adter 360, square has to much money to loose if they dont

i really don't mind if square-enix  went multiplatform, in fact i see that as a good thing for everybody... my gripe is that THEY are not giving us PS3 owners StarOcean and Infinite Undiscovery (weird title), which to my knowledge are 360 exclusive like how Final Fantasy 13 WAS.  so don't tell me they (square-enix) have gone multiplatform, when clearly they have NOT.

yeah SE maybe a multiplat company but  from all there business you would think they want nothing to do with PS3. if it wasnt for the PSP Playstation platfom this gen would have one game that took 3+ years to make held up another year so they can make another platform title(Final Fantasy 13 ). then we get second hand warter down port(Last Remnant) plus more or we get shut out from a game (Star Ocean) plus more.

    • 8:02pm GMT - November 13th, 2008

DS huh... well I guess I dont have to pay for it... even though I'll still be playing it. Arrr Matey.

    @CGIquality

you make me laugh. no seriously you do, and I just lost my job today so that took quite a bit of skill. I'm not the unreasonable person telling people to stop complaining. The people complaining are unreasonable for demanding exclusives when the PS3 isnt in the position to do so, Yes we all want the games that they're producing but they have it in their minds that the 36* regardless of how crappy we all feel it is, has a larger install base and therefore = more sales than it would on the PS3. Now also keep in mind that M$ REGULARLY locks these games down with tons of money but also with NDAs that keep develoepers from even discussing the fact that they might actually be working on the game for another system. There's a very high likely hood that those games may find their way to the PS3 some day but they can't talk about it without it costing them money.

And then add to all this the fact that the DS as we've just seen eclipses BOTH the PS3 and the 36* which is why they produced this game as well as the latest DQ for the DS. They feel like they have to develop for the platforms where there are as many bodies as possible to maximize their profit. Of course it still hasnt caught on to many of these developers that the DS is easily pirated which  costs them more money but they STILL do it, the same as they have to know that most 36* owners dont give a lick about RPGs but they still publish them for it.

OH! and then here's one MORE thing for you to concider, the fact that it still takes most deveopers LONGER to make a PS3 game than a PC of 36* game means that they're more than happy to delay the game if it means a decent port later because they took their time.

THESE are the thigs that I think about when I tell people to stop whining about crap they have no say in, can you say YOUR position is even remotly as well thought out? because all I can see is you being angry that I'm making sense and lashing out from between the cheeks your head is lodged firmly in. and it makes me LAUGH. HA HA HA. idiot.

    • 12:05am GMT - November 14th, 2008

    @ primalbreath

Still it is frustrating that they get it as a timed exclusive... I guess its better for the title that way since they can put more effort on making it good instead of using staff to convert it to ps3 and rushing it. But at the same time i dont know... Beeing made for 360 and then ported later on ps3 means it wont take advantage of any of the ps3s features... at most we will get faster loadings with the HDD access... The fact that it's going to be developped only thinking of 360 first means.... short story OR extremely repettitive content (textures and sounds and all wont vary much) because of the little 9gig limiter. The title won't take advantage of the blueray... Unless they release like 4dvds? But i dont know if they are going to do that since that title has been planed for 360 all along. Not like Final XIII that was always planned on PS3 but just got Bought out XD

Come on people...if you're gonna make noise about something atleast get the facts together before posting your comments. SE only publishes Star Ocean 4 and Infinite Undiscovery... Tri-Ace are the developers. They are the mofos that are being gay this generation with the RPG's.

  40. LastJohn34

    • 10:43pm GMT - November 14th, 2008

Why does everyone want infinite undiscovery? From what I hear it just sucked. And if im not mistaken Microsoft is pulishing it or something like that. For those who want to play that hang it up. Its not happening. Way I see it is Square-Enix use to be in Sony's corner. Now there breaking even on both sides. Infinite Undiscover is Microsofts so that doesn't count. The last Remnant we got screwed out of a same day release. But one could also argue PSP is now getting the third FF XIII game and not anyone else. They have Star Ocean 4. (With a 50/50 chance of getting. It hasn't been said only 360 they have only said we haven't deceided. Which means a couple things. A there waiting for M$ to fork over a few more million dollars. Or B. they have already made a deal with M$ so that its release on their system first and they can't announce a PS3 version until its released on 360 so that maybe M$ can get some Japan sales for 360). But PS3 has FF XIII Versus which they still swear up and down won't go multiplatform. Enix really betrayed their fans of Sony but there not in 100% M$ favor. There just breaking even. And DS? Come on! You guys have got to be kidding me! You only have 112 other games in the making some that have been for 6 years. Lets throw more on the pile. Better yet lets start making some crappy DS games that will take a couple years and maybe sell 20,000 units. Geez.. why don't they actually work on FF XIII or something instead of multitasking a 100 diffrent things. Square-Enix isn't favoring anyone - there just Screwing all sides.
